Smith, volleyball mates chase Pan Am Games spot

UPDATE: Canada is now 2-0 after beating Costa Rica 3-0 today. Canada next plays the host side from the Dominican Republic tomorrow. 

Beaverlodge product Dani Smith and the Canadians women’s indoor volleyball team are chasing a spot at next year’s Pan Am Games this week.
 
Canada beat Peru 3-0 in its opening match at the Pan American Cup, being played in the Dominican Republic.
 
The Canadians play Costa Rica today.
 
The top five finishers at this event will advance to the 2019 Pan Am Games, to be held in Peru a little over a year from now.
