Dive operations to find a missing child end Wednesday

Jul 11, 2018 | 4:48 PM

Dive operations to find a missing two-year-old will wrapped up Wednesday despite the toddler not being located.

Members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team from Saskatchewan and Manitoba have been assisting with the search of the river since yesterday.

“The Dive Team identified specific areas that they were searching based on sonar and techniques that they use. Those are the areas they focused on,” said Cpl. Shawn Graham.

RCMP say boat and air patrols will continue throughout the week.

Police are thanking all the agencies, search teams, and volunteers for their tireless effort to help in searching.

“An overwhelming amount of support from the community to help out. We certainly want to thank them for the time and effort that they have put in. At this point, the boy hasn’t been located and our thoughts remain with the boy’s family.”

The child was last seen near the Canfor Bridge near the Wapiti River on Friday, July 6, 2018.
