Semi finals set at Rangeland Derby

Jul 14, 2018 | 9:44 AM

The semi finalists are set at the Rangeland Derby, and three drivers with local ties have qualified.

Former Grande Prairie residents Mark Sutherland and Rick Fraser will be joined in tonight’s semis by Chanse Vigen, who is driving his injured dad Mike’s outfit.

All three finished in the top eight of the aggregate, with Mark finishing tied for second, Vigen in fifth, and Fraser – who is in his final race meet before retiring – in sixth.

Kurt Bensmiller won the aggregate title for the third time in four years.

Yesterday’s day money for best time went to Jason Glass, who is also in the semi finals after finishing tied with Sutherland for second.

Meanwhile Dean Dreger had the best time last night for the WCA circuit in Teepee Creek.

He now leads the aggregate after 2 days of racing.
