TAMPERE, Finland — Canada’s Camryn Rogers won gold in hammer throw Sunday at the world under-20 track and field championships.

The 19-year-old from Richmond, B.C., recorded 64.9 metres on her first of five completed throws, and the distance held up as the winner.

Rogers also had throws of 63.87, 63.78, 63.30 and 59.18. She did not complete her sixth and final throw.

“Being out there throwing is the best feeling in the world and being able to come away with a gold medal and that (world championship) title just hones in how amazing of a competition this was,” a beaming Rogers told a sideline reporter in a video clip after the competition.
