Construction crews hit gas line near west end of Grande Prairie

Aug 9, 2018 | 1:17 PM

ATCO Gas crews are making repairs after a construction crew hit a gas line earlier today in west Grande Prairie along 97 Avenue.

ATCO says there is typically a gas leak in these situations, but the amount of gas leaked would be small and dissipate quickly.

However, Everything Grande Prairie’s Brady Ratzlaff says he could smell gas in the air from the corner of 100 Avenue and 116 Street and that was with the vehicle windows closed.

This is not expected to cause major traffic disruptions as there is already a lot of construction taking place in that area.
