Home starts down in City, up in County

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says housing starts in Grande Prairie this year are trailing last year’s pace.
 
CMHC says there have been 72 total starts through July this year compared to 121 in the first seven months of 2017.
 
Single-family homes dropped to 60 from 97 while multi-unit starts were halved to 12 from 24.
 
CMHC says home completions are at 90 so far this year compared to 130 last year. What it calls absorptions, another word for sales,  stood at 91 at the end of July this year, 115 last year.
 
Starts are up in the County of Grande Prairie, 100 this year compared to 92 last year.
 
Completions are at 85 compared to 151 a year ago.
