Drillers looking at the positives from 2018

Aug 15, 2018 | 11:21 AM

Record-wise 2018 wasn’t the greatest year for the Grande Prairie Drillers, but the club is looking at the positives from the re-building year.

The club finished the year with a 1-7 record, and it all wrapped up with a 30-20 loss Saturday at home to the Calgary Wolfpack.

” We had a lot of younger players and I’m really excited for that. A lot of the veterans retired and just didn’t want to play anymore. Lots of injuries and stuff like that. The younger group that we have is a really solid good core, ” shared Head Coach John Park.

Park added that it was unfortunate the season had to end so soon as he felt the team was starting to finally click on offence, and everything was starting to finally come together for his club.

Now that the 2018 season is complete, their eyes are set for next year, and as Park revealed the club is looking to get a head start on recruitment.

” With the upcoming season, we are going to be more proactive. We are going to start recruiting sooner. We are going to hit up some of the schools and the guys that are graduating the guys who aren’t going to college or play junior we will try and get on board. “

In conclusion, Park stated that the club has put some solid building blocks in place for next season and that they will be competitive in 2019.
