Annual Terry Fox Run taking place at Muskoseepi Park today

The 34th annual Terry Fox Run is taking place today at Muskoseepi Park.

Run Coordinator Debra Cartier says they are aiming to raise more money this year over last.

“Last year, what we raised directly at the event in other words what we were able to report as of the day of the event was $10,500. Now, there were additional donations that came in after that.”

Cartier adds she is concerned that the turnout this year may take a hit with the recent cold stretch.

“Typically we get between about 80 to 100 people. The need to raise funds doesn’t stop just because the weather has turned [bad]. I’m hoping we will get another 100 people out again.”

Cartier adds she is hoping for at least $11,000 to $12,000 from just the run.

Last year’s Terry Fox Run in total, raised $29,430 for the Foundation towards cancer research.
