First annual Saskatoon Island Fall Fair

Sep 21, 2018 | 7:51 AM

The first annual Saskatoon Island Fall Fair takes place this weekend, rain, snow or shine.

Alberta Park’s Chelsey Rhodes says this event is replacing the Swan Festival that used to happen in the Spring.

“Celebrating the farewell to the Trumpeter Swan. In prior years we used to have a festival where the Trumpeter Swans were migrating back to the area but they are all here right now, sometimes you can see quite large numbers of them right out at Saskatoon Island Provincial Park. They are getting ready for fall migration right now.”

She says there will be swan experts on hand to answer questions.

“Teaching people how to get some cool photos of the Trumpeter Swan and showing them how to go down into special areas of the park, there are some great naturalists there to help people hopefully see and view the Trumpeter Swans the day of.”

The event starts at noon Sunday and includes local entertainment, displays, outdoor market and activities.
