Fight For Hope room opens in Edmonton

Sep 21, 2018 | 10:30 AM

A local family was recognized for their contributions for helping the Kids With Cancer Society.

Scotty Cartwright, the man behind Fight for Hope, and his wife and three children were at the opening of Papa Ken’s House in Edmonton to see the Fight For Hope room.

Cartwright says the home is a place for families to stay while their child is receiving treatment and follow-up care.

“Words couldn’t express what we are feeling right now, it is amazing. It is a huge honour to be here and I love you all, thank you for your support, couldn’t be here without you.”

Executive Director of the society Val Figliuzzi says the recognition is well deserved.

“And we cannot express our gratitude enough to the Cartwright family and all of their supporters for doing what they are doing in the community and allowing us to provide this accommodation. We are very proud that one of the rooms is called Fight For Hope.”

During the Thursday event, the couple also donated $10,000 from Scotty’s Burger Shack to KWCS as well as another $10,000 to Ronald McDonald House.
