Grande Prairie not on list of AGLC interim cannabis licenses yet

Oct 4, 2018 | 3:23 PM

The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission has released their list of businesses that have received their interim cannabis licenses and Grande Prairie isn’t a location that appears on the list – yet.

There actually aren’t any northern locations on the list but there are 17 from around the province. The ones that do have the piece of paper will be able to order produce and prepare stock for potential sale on October 17. All conditions must be met on the interim license before the business receives the sales license allowing them to sell marijuana once it is legal.

The AGLC says there are business owners from the Grande Prairie area working on getting their license with them. Twenty applications have been submitted from Grande Prairie and one each from Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Clairmont.

The commission expects to see roughly 250 stores in business around the province by the end of the first year of legalization.

Once the date hits in just under two weeks, adults that want to purchase marijuana, but aren’t able to at a physical location in their community, can order on albertacannabis.org.
