Calgary police looking for victim of possible hate assault

Calgary police are looking for the victim of a possible hate-motivated assault aboard a transit train on the weekend.

Police say a man on the train is believed to have started yelling at a South Asian Sikh man to — quote — “go back to your own country” before allegedly hitting the victim in the head with a piece of cardboard.

They say the suspect continued to yell at the victim on the platform after they left the train.

Police say the alleged suspect in the assault has been identified but they are still trying to locate the alleged victim.
