Psychiatrist testifies on Day 3 of Goodridge trial

Oct 31, 2018 | 4:29 PM

The only witness set to testify today at the Daniel Goodridge murder trial in Grande Prairie was a psychiatrist who examined him after the attacks.

Dr. Lenka Zedkova testified that at the time of the 2015 stabbings at a work camp near Fox Creek that left two people dead, Goodridge’s mental state led him to believe his co-workers wanted to assault him. He also had been hearing voices telling him to kill or be killed and believed he had to slaughter everyone to make the voices stop.

She also testified that while Goodridge could appreciate that what he was doing could leave someone dead, his mental state meant he did not know what he was doing was wrong.

Goodridge has pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disorder to two counts of murder, three of assault with a weapon, and one of interfering with a dead body.
