13 men arrested for allegedly trying to arrange sex with children

EDMONTON – Police have arrested 13 men after investigations in Alberta, Ontario and elsewhere that targeted suspects who were allegedly trying to arrange sex with children.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team says the arrests started in February and ended last month as part of a series of unrelated investigations by the team’s Edmonton-based Internet Child Exploitation unit.

The team says a dozen of the accused are from Edmonton, Drayton Valley, Fort Saskatchewan, Wainwright and St. Albert, while the 13th person is a resident of Barrie, Ont.

The suspects arrested include the number of charges in parentheses:

  • John Leskosky, a 42-year-old man from Wainwright (3);
  • Adam Turner, a 24-year-old man from Edmonton (5);
  • Steve Chaytor, a 51-year-old man from Edmonton (5);
  • Jonas Karadics, a 32-year-old man from Edmonton (3);
  • Wilson Misay, a 38-year-old man from Drayton Valley (6);
  • Jonathan Dahmer, a 31-year-old man from Edmonton (8);
  • Timothy Olsen, a 37-year-old man from St. Albert (5);
  • Ryan Wiggins, a 44-year-old man from Edmonton (3);
  •  Dean Baker, a 51-year-old man from Edmonton (4);
  • Taille Marron, a 37-year-old man from Edmonton (16).
  • Yousef Ammar, a 42-year-old man from Drayton Valley (4); and
  • Travis Irwin, a 29-year-old man from Barrie, Ont. (4)

A total of 69 charges have been laid, while three suspects have been identified in the United States.

Police seized nearly 50 computers and electronic devices and say the alleged crimes took place on a variety social media platforms.

All the accused face multiple charges, with the most counts,16, laid against a 37-year Edmonton resident.
