It will be a busy weekend in the Swan city for High School Basketball as the GPRC Wolves host their annual winter tournament.

GPRC Wolves Womens Basketball Head Coach Mandy Botham shared that there will be plenty of local talent participating in this year's event.

"We are hosting 16 Senior Boys teams and 12 Senior Girls teams from Northern Alberta, Northern B.C, and the Territories as well. We are really looking forward to having all of those coaches and athletes on our campus this weekend."

For Botham, this provides an excellent opportunity to scout out some potential future Wolves.

"With the nature of our schedule and playing on weekends, there aren't many opportunities for me to get out to tournaments on the weekends, especially outside of Grande Prairie. I try to have my homework done on athletes that I want to look at coming into this weekend."

This tournament was extremely helpful for Botham last season, as 6 players from her current roster took part in the event last year.

The tournament begins Friday morning and concludes Saturday evening with the Championship games beginning at 5:20 p.m. with the Girls and it being followed by the Boys at 7:00 p.m.
