Storm complete four trades on deadline day

It was a busy day for the Grande Prairie Storm Thursday ahead of the CJHL Trade Deadline as the club made four deals total.

The first move was a five-team deal between three leagues which saw the Storm receive 99 defenceman Jarin Sutton and Cruz Cote head to the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL.

Sutton has 1 goal and 4 assists in 32 games this season with the Victoria Grizzlies.

Next saw the Storm move Walker Cote to the SJHL’s Nipawin Hawks for Future Considerations.

The Hawks now boast 4 players from the peace region on the club.

This includes Walker Cote, Eric Sorensen, Jarrod Isley all from Grande Prairie, and Logan Moon who hails from Beaverlodge.

Grande Prairie then moved blue liner Nolan Spadafore to the Olds Grizzlys for Future Considerations.

In their final deal of the day, the Storm acquired 99 defenceman Alexis Girard from College Francais de Longueuil (QJHL) for futures.

Girard has spent time in the QMJHL with Rimouski Oceanic, Saint John Sea Dogs, Gatineau Olympiques, and the Quebec Remparts.

In 6 games in the QMJHL this season he registered 3 assists, while at the Junior A ranks, he had 3 goals and 7 assists in 19 games.

The Storm are back in action Friday night against the Spruce Grove Saints.
