Busy night for local hockey leagues

Tanner Labbe scored twice as the Grande Prairie A’s beat Falher 6-1 in NPHL action on Saturday. 

Brock Clement, Alex Curran, Braden Crone and Darian Fay also scored for the A’s, who are now just one point back of Dawson Creek for first in the West Division. 

Kiefer Smiley made 32 saves in the A’s net, with Pat Rowan being the only Falher player to beat him on the night. 

Also last night, Isaiah Letendre scored three times, including the winner at the 2:15 mark of overtime, as High Prairie beat Grimshaw 6-5.

The North West Junior Hockey League served up a three game schedule on Saturday. 

Wyatt Lawrewnce ands Blake Gillingham each scored twice as the County JDA Kings beat the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers 7-5. 

Dawson Chase, Louka Richard and Corbin Doram also scored for the Kings, who improved to 12-12-1 on the season. 

Gavin Huber, Blain Moskalyk, Ashtyn Coleman, Payton Lappenbush, and Larry Yellowknee replied for the 8-16-2 Vipers. 

Elsewhere in the NWJHL, Jonathan Noskey and Theo Cunningham each scored twice as North Peace got by Fort St John 6-2. 

And Nick Vanderpleug scored twice as Dawson Creek beat Fairview 5-3.

Jayden Watson and Kaden Reinders each had a goal and an assist as the Ernie’s Sports Experts Major Midget Storm beat Leduc 5-1 yesterday. 

And Tye Evans and Landon Hedges each scored as the Boston Pizza Minor Midget Storm fell 4-2 to Lloydminster.
