Olivia. Liam top Alberta baby names of 2018

EDMONTON – There will still be plenty of Olivias, Emmas, Liams and Noahs when babies born in Alberta last year start kindergarten.

But some boys and girls will sport names inspired by the Bible, Marvel comics, gemstones and even outer space.

Some of the more unusual names parents chose in 2018 include Genesis, Exodus, Loki, Thanos, Diamond, Sapphire, Galaxy, Jupiter and Moon.

Olivia was the top girls name for the fifth year in a row, while Liam made it back to No. 1 spot for boys after falling to second in 2017.

Harper, Elizabeth and James cracked the Top 10 for the first time in decades.
