It was a blast from the past Tuesday in Red Deer.

A crowd gathered at the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum for the opening of the AGT Spirit of Alberta March of Champions Time Capsule from the 1995 Canada Winter Games in Grande Prairie, the last time the event was held in Alberta.

Items from the time capsule included signed banners, jerseys, newspapers, phone books, civic pins and various other memorabilia from the 1995 Games.

“It was really neat to see how many communities from across Alberta contributed to the time capsule,” remarked Lyn Radford, Chair for the 2019 Canada Winter Games Host Society. “It was really neat that Grande Prairie included communities from across Alberta.”
