Collisions reported in city and on local highways

Jan 17, 2019 | 6:48 AM

Collisions from earlier today have now all be cleared.

Corporal Maria Ogden says there were no major injuries reported in regards to the collisions on the highways Thursday morning.

“The road conditions are extremely poor, so people need to be careful and reduce their speed on the highways because they’re extremely slippery. There were some collisions on the road earlier but there were not any significant injuries as a result of those collisions. People need to be mindful of their speed and pay attention to the road conditions,” she said.

Earlier: (9:10 a.m.) There is a large truck broke down on Highway 40 near the Wapiti Bridge. Traffic is lined up to almost the Correction Line.

(8:37 a.m.) A caller tells us there has been an accident on 116 Ave. Traffic backed up to Crystal Lake.

(8:20 a.m.) A report just came in about a collision on 68th ave heading west.  Traffic is backed up to Resources Road.

(8:15 a.m.) We are hearing reports of a collision on Highway 43 east of Grande Prairie. It is impacting westbound lanes and emergency crews are on the scene.

(7:48 a.m.) There have been two possible collisions on Highway 40.

The first report we received is for a collision south of Norbord, possibly a head-on collision.
