Storm pick up convincing win while Vipers snap streak

The Grande Prairie Storm have yet to taste defeat on home ice in the 2019 portion of their schedule.

Jonathan Hader scvhored twice while Kaeden Lane made 31 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Storm blanked the Whitecourt Wolverines 6-0. 

Connor Blake, Tyrell Boucher, Bryce Osepchuk and Zach Okabe also scored for the Storm, who have won four straight at home, outscoring their opponents 28-10 in the process. 

The two teams will meet again tonight, this time in Whitecourt.  

 

Meanwhile the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers snapped a four game losing streak on Friday night. 

Thomas Lavalley scored at the 1:05 mark of overtime as the Vipers edged the Fort St John Huskies 4-3. 

The NWJHL serves up two games tonight, as the Vipers travel to Dawson Creek while Fairview is in Peace River to face the Navigators.  

 

Matt Boyd scored twice as Manning beat Falher 5-1 in the only game on the NPHL schedule. 

Three games are on tap tonight, including Dawson Creek at Falher in a battle of division leaders, while Grimshaw travels to Fort St John and Manning hosts High Prairie.
