Man out of the U.S arrested in connection with Taber bomb threats

Taber, AB – The Taber Police Service has announced a man from Illinois, USA has been arrested following multiple bomb threats to different Taber community locations over the past 48 hours.

The arrest was made on 10 counts of felony bomb threats.

Westlake Elementary School and WR Myers School both received anonymous threats by voicemail Friday morning.

Also on Friday via Twitter, the Horizon School Division confirmed Central Elementary School received a similar threat in the afternoon. Students had been dismissed and were out of the building at the time the threat was reported. Police investigated and determined it was a hoax.

Taber Police are offering their thanks to the Taber Fire Department, Medicine Hat Police Service, The United States Department of Home Land Security ICE and the Jackson County Sheriffs Department in Illinois, USA.

Officers said in a Facebook post that “the results of this investigation demonstrated the commitment and abilities of our local law enforcement and the partnerships necessary to ensure safe communities.”
