Nordstrom awarded AJHL player of the week

After a big weekend against the Drayton Valley Thunder, Alex Nordstrom has been named the AJHL player of the week.

The 18-year-old forward scored his first career AJHL hat trick plus and added an assist in Friday’s wild 6-5 comeback win. He followed it up with a two goal and one assist performance on Saturday in a 4-0 shutout to complete to sweep of the back-to-back at Revolution Place.

The Michigan Tech commit now has 19 goals and 17 assists on the season and has points in five of his last six games. He also sits in the top ten amongst league rookies.

This is now back-to-back weeks a Storm player has been given the award, and fourth time in the last six weeks. Zachary Okabe won the award last week, while Noah Corson won twice over a span of two weeks in January.

The Storm also lead the entire AJHL in player of the week winners with five. Brooks and Sherwood Park are second, with a total of three winners this season.

Nordstrom and the Storm are on the road this week for a three-game swing. They play in Bonnyville on Tuesday, Lloydminster on Wednesday and Whitecourt on Saturday.
