CRU traffic stop leads to collision and arrest
An attempted traffic stop on a vehicle associated with a male with outstanding warrants led the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit to arrest an adult male and female youth passenger.
On February 23 Mounties from the CRU attempted a traffic stop on the associated vehicle, at which point the vehicle tried to flee but collided with a second police vehicle that was arriving to assist. Nobody was injured during the collision but both vehicles were damaged.
Mounties did search the vehicle turning up a number of illegal items:
- A loaded Ruger pistol with the serial number removed
- 30 grams of suspected cocaine
- Drug packaging materials
- Brass knuckles
- $3800 in Canadian Currency
