Grande Prairie Live Theatre, 98 Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB, Canada
The Comedy “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” by William Shakespeare.
At the Grande Prairie Live Theatre, May 8 -24, 2025. Directed by Agnes Pasko.
Much Ado About Nothing is a brilliant comedy written in the sixteenth century by William Shakespeare, packed with sharp-witted humor, action and unexpected plot twists. The play is set in the Sicilian town of Messina, and it revolves around a couple of young and beautiful lovers but is far from a fairy tale. There is passion, envy, betrayal, rejection, revenge, and maybe even death?
This production will be in the traditional style with period costumes, props and set.
Thanks to Shanda Fuller for the original painting used for Much Ado About Nothing advertising poster and graphics.

All the Good Times - The Farewell Tour - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
They rocked a sold-out crowd at the Ovintiv Events Centre in 2018, and the Ovintiv Events Centre is honoured to welcome them back to Dawson Creek for their final tour. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the band that helped define American country and roots music.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band heads to Dawson Creek, BC, for an unforgettable evening! With a career spanning nearly six decades, this three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning group has captivated audiences worldwide with their unmatched musicianship and iconic hits like “Mr. Bojangles,” “Fishin’ In The Dark,” and “An American Dream.”
Now, the band that has defined American country and roots music is taking their final bow on The Farewell Tour. Don’t miss this chance to celebrate the timeless legacy of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band as they bid a heartfelt goodbye to the highways and byways they’ve called home for so many years.
In the spring of 2024, the Dirt Band kicked off the first leg of their last traditionally scheduled gigs, ALL THE GOOD TIMES: The Farewell Tour. No need to fret, this isn’t goodbye forever, but it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides from the group that helmed the multi-artist Will The Circle Be Unbroken series that featured the likes of Mother Maybelle Carter, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Taj Mahal, Levon Helm, and dozens more.
“‘All The Good Times’ perfectly describes our career,” said the band in a statement this week. “Playing our music for Dirt Band fans all over the world has been an incredible experience for us. The most important part of that has been the connection to our audience—that beautiful communal give and take is like nothing else. That's the very spirit we'll be celebrating as we head into our farewell tour. We really look forward to seeing you folks. Good times will be had by all!”

Dawson Creek, B.C., is set to host the highly anticipated 2025 Para Cup, bringing international para hockey action to the West Coast for the first time since 2007. This prestigious tournament, held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 at the Ovintiv Events Centre, serves as the final international competition before the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Italy.
The Para Cup has a rich history, originating as the World Sledge Hockey Challenge in 2007. This year, the world's top para-athletes will compete on Canadian ice once again, showcasing their skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
Dawson Creek is no stranger to hosting premier hockey events, having successfully welcomed the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge (2015, 2017), the 2019 World Junior A Challenge, and the 2023 National Women’s Under-18 Championship. With a strong hockey culture, dedicated volunteers, and state-of-the-art facilities, the city is primed to deliver an unforgettable experience for players, fans, and the community alike.
“Dawson Creek is thrilled to welcome the world to Mile Zero of the Alaska Highway and host the 2025 Para Cup, a first for our city and the Peace Region,” said Mayor Darcy Dober. “This event is not only a key part of our tourism strategy but also highlights the strong partnerships we've built hosting international events. Club president Anne Sawchuk said; “We’ve had a few new members this year, and it was their first time that they’ve ever seen the display live, and they come and they they sit there and they look and they go ‘I made that one, and I made that one, and I made that one, and I made that one’ so they can see their work.”
Sawchuk added that one of their members takes the bus to meet with the club, and says she often sees many bus riders wearing their hats and scarves.
The club, which consists of 53 mainly retired women up to the age of 96, take great pride in their work but have also bonded over a common interest and built friendships.
“It’s a very tight-knit community and we’re very happy with the members, there such a wonderful group of ladies.”
Sawchuk said, “It keeps them busy, it keeps the people coming from all the lodges and stuff occupied and happy. Even the ones who can no longer knit due to arthritis still want to help, so they’re the ones who untangle the yarn (donations) when they come in.”
However, the club is in desperate need of yarn.
Sawchuk says they currently have 10,320 balls of yarn left which will only last one more year; “If we don’t get any donations to replenish what we have, we haven’t gotten any money to buy, (more yarn). We have a few hundred dollars in the bank but that goes to buying the bags that bag stuff up to go out of here.”
“So. if we don’t get any more donations then we will not be here next year because there will be no yarn.”
Anyone wanting to make a cash or yarn donation can either contact Sawchuk at 780-505-2252 or vice-president Cindy Wendorf at 780-897-2338, drop off at the Golden Age Centre, or use their bottle donation number 2280 at the bottle depots inside the City.
Cash, yarn and gift card donations are accepted, but Sawchuk asks if anyone is going to donate a gift card, it is to Micheal’s, as Visa gift cards take a fee off the top.

Within the space you’ll see workstations with art supplies and instructions to create your own artwork. Visitors are welcome to display their work take their projects home to share with their families and friends.
What are community art projects?
Visitors are always invited to contribute the piece(s) they make in the Carlstrom Family Green Space to our community art projects. These collaborative artworks allow everyone to participate and for visitors to watch them change and grow over time. We often choose installation art for our community art projects because it’s a contemporary art form that often emphasizes a sensory experience and is rich in material choices easy for everyone to manipulate.

Take care
A self-directed space requires all users to take care of the space and to be respectful to the other visitors, so that everyone may enjoy their time here and experience a pleasant visit. We ask each visitor to tidy the space after each visit. This includes restoring art materials to their designated shelf or bin, resetting moved furniture and placing any garbage into waste bins. Always remember that food and drink are not permitted in the Green Space.
Welcome
We hope you’re inspired to spend time in the Carlstrom Family Green Space during your next visit to the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. Pop in and see what others are making!

The Aquatera Community Skating Oval is an outdoor 400m Olympic-sized speed skating oval that is open December until the Spring melt.
It's coordinated by the Peace Wapiti Speed Skating Club for outdoor training of Peace Country speed skating athletes.
When they are not hosting a practice or a meet, the community is invited to enjoy skating.
Speed skates, and all sport skates are welcome. They highly recommend wearing a helmet, especially for youth age 17 and under.
Please skate counter-clockwise, to the Left.
X NO hockey sticks & pucks.
X NO pets on the ice.
Take care not to groove the ice or make hard hockey stops, as it can damage the ice and cause a closure for all skaters while it is being repaired.
In the new year, some Wednesday and Friday nights, the lights will be on to skate in the evening. (Example 6:30-8pm).
