Kettle Campaign needs volunteers in Grande Prairie

Nov 24, 2017 | 4:50 AM

The Salvation Army is putting the call out for volunteers for its Kettle Campaign.

Lieutenant Peter Kim says many of the regular volunteers are not able to help this year.

“We are finding that many people are sick this year and the seniors that we normally have faithfully ringing the bells for us are unable to due to different circumstances whether it is illness or they’re out of town, so we are really short of volunteers.”

He says they are looking for the next generation of bell ringers for two-hour shifts.

“We are looking for new volunteers, a new pool to draw on so that we would be able to ensure that there are people manning those kettles so that we can actually hit our goal of raising $500,000.”

He says along with helping those in need in our community, it could be the start of a new tradition for families.

Contact Lynn and/or Myrna at 780-538-2848 or kettles@salvationarmygp.ca to volunteer.
