Second water-main break delays repairs in Peace River

Jan 16, 2018 | 4:05 PM

UPDATE #2: The Town of Peace River says the fix is complete. Everything should be back to normal by 5 p.m. today (January 17).

UPDATE: Water downtown has been shut off for crews to repair the valve on Main Street.

94 Street in the Town is closed. The Town expects any ice build up to melt away as temperatures increase today.

A second water-main break is delaying repairs on another one that happened last week in Peace River.

The first break happened on Friday, January 12, on Main Street of the town. Work was expected to be completed in the area by approximately 5 p.m. today, but due to another break in another part of town being noticed in the afternoon, the fix is now estimated to be done by late Wednesday morning. Crews will be back at the location tomorrow morning.

The second break happened along River Road in the middle of the afternoon. In a release from the Town of Peace River provided at 4:40 p.m., the fix near Highway 2 Bridge is underway. The road remains closed for at least the next 24-hours with a detour at 98 Street. There are no disruptions in water service expected to people living in the north end of town. Water is shut off and being rerouted through another line.

The Town reminds people to follow all detour signs that are posted.
