Hospice Palliative Care Society hosting first ever ‘Planning it Right’

Apr 15, 2018 | 6:00 AM

The Grande Prairie Hospice Palliative Care Society is hosting its first ever ‘Planning it Right’ event.

Event Coordinator Teanna Havell, says the purpose of the event is to provide information to the public on an issue that doesn’t get brought up enough.

“It will be discussing will, life insurance, power of attorneys, personal directives and your goals of care. Some things that people think about, but they don’t necessarily think about a whole lot.”

The event will feature a number special guests who will be touching on a wide variety of topics and answering any questions the audience may have.

“We are going to have a few guest speakers discussing the wills and estates, we have another speaker for life insurance and we have somebody for Alberta Health that will be talking about personal goals of care. They will be demonstrating, what we call the green sleeve in the medical industry. It’s important for people to have this and keep it updated in case of an emergency.”

Havell hopes the event will leave attendees with no questions and for it to be the start of planning for the future.

The event takes place on April 16 at the Entrec Centre at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
