Parents asked to prepare students for the Wireless Public Alert System test

May 8, 2018 | 5:53 AM

Area school divisions and boards are asking parents and caregivers to prepare their children for Wednesday’s Wireless Public Alert System test.

It will be happening at 1:55 p.m. when school is in session.

The tests are being conducted after the CRTC ordered wireless providers to implement the system to distribute warnings of imminent safety threats, such as tornadoes, floods, Amber Alerts or terrorist threats.

The test alert will emit a loud noise, that may startle students.
