Police deem Alberta man offside after alleged hockey-stick shootout

Sep 14, 2017 | 11:15 AM

AIRDRIE, Alta. — A Calgary-area man was sent to the RCMP penalty box after he allegedly used a hockey stick as a pretend gun to shoot at passing vehicles.

Mounties at Airdrie got word late Tuesday afternoon about someone who had broken items in his own home, destroyed a neighbour’s fence and thrown rocks at a parked vehicle.

They say the hockey stick was then stolen and held like it was a firearm.

An arrest was made at a local intersection without the need for bodychecks.

Police determined the accused was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Warren Robert Eyapaise, a 37-year-old Airdrie resident, was to appear in court Thursday on charges that include mischief, theft and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
