Local grass fire started off side road
While a cause remains unclear, the origin point for a Wednesday night grass fire in Medicine Hat has been found.
The fire was first spotted around 6:30 p.m., south of Saamis Drive heading into Redcliff. Police blocked off part of the road to allow emergency crews to work, later re-opening the road once the fire was under control.
Multiple fire crews went to the scene to fight the fire, including three trucks from the Medicine Hat Fire Service.
According to Platoon Chief Joe Greenan with the Medicine Hat Fire Department, the call about a fast-moving grass fire in the area came in around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, with the fire fully extinguished by 9:57 p.m.
