Bear Creek Outdoor Pool construction to continue through winter

Nov 6, 2017 | 8:21 AM

If you go by the Bear Creek Outdoor Pool area, you will see construction being done over the next few months. The first phase was demolition, but now parts of the structure are starting to be installed.

Project Sponsor Kylee Haining says the walls of the pool are done, but before winter really hits the tots pool and the foundation for the waterslide are set to be poured.

“It will all be covered over for the winter and buttoned up until spring. In the spring, the floor, the deck, the coating, the tiling, and the finishing work will be done.”

Work will continue on the building portion throughout the winter season. Haining says the structure is 52-years-old and needed a lot of work done.

“There is a new floor that has been put in and it has in-floor heating. Last time we were there, they were starting the framing and getting ready for the inside work for the winter. The construction will continue all winter and in the spring, finish some outside work.  We are still aiming for a July opening.”

Included in the $4.5 million project will be a triple-loop slide, a tot’s pool, Spanish steps and a lily island.

The pool was built in 1962, but it closed in 2013 when a large crack was found.
