RCMP investigate truck shot on Forestry Trunk Road

Nov 6, 2017 | 8:15 AM

A vehicle was shot at south of Grande Prairie, but RCMP don’t believe it was related to recent incidents on Highway 40.

On November 3, Police received a report of a pick-up truck that had been shot while travelling on the Forestry Trunk Road, also known as Highway 734.

The box of the truck had a single gunshot hole and the driver of the vehicle was not injured.

There were no suspect vehicles in the area at the time of the investigation.

Police are looking to talk to hunters or people that were on the Forestry Trunk Road between kilometre marker 45 and 55 between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on that day.

RCMP are reminding hunters in Alberta that it is illegal to shoot a gun across a provincial highway including former primary and secondary highways.

Hunters are also not allowed to shoot across a road that is paved, oiled, graded or regularly maintained.

On top of those rules, Police are reminding hunters that it is illegal to hunt half an hour after sunset and before sunrise.

If you have more information on this incident, contact RCMP at (780)830-5701 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) to remain anonymous.
