Bill Given elected to Alberta Urban Municipalities Association board

Nov 27, 2017 | 6:44 AM

Bill Given has been elected to the board of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association.

Grande Prairie’s mayor ran against five people to earn one of three spots on the board.

“The association is a really important voice, both representing municipalities all across the province, and it’s also an important way for our community of Grande Prairie to connect into provincial initiatives and the provincial government,” said Given.

Given has previous experience with the AUMA, having served on it’s Municipal Governance committee over the last two years.

He hopes his experience in strategic thinking and incorporating vision will be a benefit to the AUMA board.

He is not the first representative from the City of Grande Prairie to serve on the AUMA board, Given follows in the foot steps of former longtime city councillor Helen Rice, who served on the board for a number of years.
