Launch for revamped book on Peace Country history takes place today

Dec 2, 2017 | 6:02 AM

The Peace River Historical Society is hosting a launch for a revamped edition of a book about the history of this region today.

The updated “The Lure of the Peace River Country, 1872-1914” is by Sexsmith-raised historian David Leonard and Victoria Lemieux.

It was first published in 1992 and has been out of print for some time.

It tells of how settlers came here in the years before World War I, even before there was a railway to this area.

The launch will take place between 2 and 4 p.m. this afternoon at the Montrose Cultural Centre.
