Stocking Stuffers for Seniors returns for second year

Dec 2, 2017 | 7:49 AM

Over 350 people were given presents last year through the Stocking Stuffers for Seniors program, and there are plans to give more this year.

Representative with the program at London Drugs, Natalie Harper, says they have teamed up with the Grande Spirit Foundation to help Seniors get presents this year.

She says it allows people to donate something for Senior Citizens through the Grande Spirit Foundation by December 11th.

“You can go into the store and you can choose a tag off of the tree in the store.  And that contains a personal wish list from a senior from one of those homes.  And then you can buy your gift or you can make your gift.  We have had some crafty people knit some scarves and mittens and all of those things “

Harper adds seniors are often a forgotten about group during the holidays.

“It is humbling to see the gifts that they ask for because it is things that you and I would normally take for granted.  Things like soap, crackers, cookies, chocolate, deodorant, puzzles, books.”

This is the second year the program has been in Grande Prairie.
