Preliminary hearing dates set in murder case

Preliminary hearing dates have been set for a man facing a murder charge after a body was found in a burned-out trailer near Peace River in May.

Alberta Justice says the hearing for Blake Murphy of Grande Prairie is set for May 29 and 30, 2018.

He was charged after the body of 20-year-old Lawrence Robert Butt was found in the trailer on Reno Road East May 17, 2016.

Three other people were also charged with offences that included accessory to murder and indignity to a human body.

Lucas Lloyd Lundstrom entered a guilty plea and was given a one-day jail sentence Monday in Peace River court.

Bonnie Lynn Castleton had already pleaded guilty in August and was given 90-days, minus 89-days credit for time already spent in custody.

Kyle Timothy Dudbroy-Clement is due back in court in January.

Trial dates set in Grande Prairie drug case

Trial dates have been set in Grande Prairie court for a man charged after 2000 fentanyl pills and a loaded handgun were seized during a search of a Grande Prairie home late last year.

Alberta Justice says Abdulmalik Hassan will stand trial September 11 and 12, 2018.

He is facing drug and weapon charges after a search of a Country Side South home November 23, 2016.

At the time, RCMP said besides seizing the fentanyl and weapon, they also seized crack cocaine, crystal meth, and marijuana.
