Countdown to Christmas underway

Dec 8, 2017 | 3:18 PM

There is a little over two weeks until Christmas Day.

Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick is reminding the girls and boys of Grande Prairie to be good, not only at this time of year, but all year long.

“Ho, ho, the girls and boys of the peace country have been great, there are a few I have my eye on, but they can redeem themselves if they are good little boys and girls,” said Santa Claus in a phone interview with the EverythingGP Newsroom.

“To get on the nice list, they have to listen to their mom and dad, go to bed when they are told to, and pick one nice deed a day to do, ho, ho, ho.”

He says although the Alberta government may be phasing out coal, he’s not afraid to give a lump of it to children on the naughty list.

On December 24, he will be travelling around the world to deliver toys. You can follow him on his journey on the Google Santa Tracker online.

Although he doesn’t need the treats, he reminds children that he likes cookies and milk left out for him on Christmas Eve If you feel the need to leave the reindeer a snack, a carrot will suffice, according to Claus.

“I’ve received a lot of letters this year, but I want to receive more,” said Claus.

The deadline for mailing your letters to him is December 11, 2017, if you would like a letter back. Envelopes don’t need postage, but in order to get to the North Pole, they will need a clear address to Santa and return address.
