Jan 2, 2018 | 11:05 AM

Preben Bossen has been named the new chief of the Grande Prairie Fire Department.

He began with the department as a volunteer firefighter in 1983 and in March 1984 he started full-time.

“I felt I had a lot to offer to this department and this city in taking on this role,” said Bossen.

He says keeping good stats for the department’s response to calls with the addition of new equipment is a priority.

“With some new equipment … I know we can get much better stats and shape our response to where we’re most needed,” he said.

Bossen started December 27, 2017. The city’s former fire chief left in September.

“My main goal is to maintain the positive workflow we have. We have a great staff and a progressive fire department.”
