Storm hit the road for three games in three nights

Jan 4, 2018 | 4:30 AM

Following two close home losses to the Spruce Grove Saints last week, the Grande Prairie Storm are back on the bus as they hit the road for three games in as many nights.

It all starts tonight in Drayton Valley as the Storm tangle with the last place Thunder. Drayton Valley goes into Thursday’s game with a 9-28-1 record on the campaign, but have shown signs of improvement since hiring both General Manager Joey Bouchard and new Head Coach Ryan Rechner. This will be the 5th meeting of the season between the two hockey clubs with each team winning twice. Face-off is at 7:30 p.m.

Friday night, the Storm will tangle with a familiar foe as they visit the Grant Fuhr Arena to meet the Spruce Grove Saints. The two clubs met last weekend at Revolution Place, with the Saints winning both hockey games by one.

Finally, the road trip will conclude Saturday night with a crucial meeting between the Storm and the Sherwood Park Crusaders. Grande Prairie and the Crusaders are currently battling for positioning in the middle of the AJHL’s North Division and it could be a potential playoff preview.

The Storm go into their three-game road trip with a 17-17-3 record which is good for 4th in the North Division.
