Dawson Creek vaults into first place in NWJHL

Jan 8, 2018 | 11:43 AM

There is a new team at the top of the NWJHL’s standings following this weekend.

The Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks now lead the way after an 8-5 win Friday against Sexsmith and a 4-3 victory on the road in Fairview Saturday.

The Fort St.John Huskies split their two games over the weekend. Friday they fell 3-2 to the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings, but then bounced back on Saturday with a massive 10-0 win over the Sexsmith Vipers.

The Beaverlodge Blades didn’t have as good of a weekend. Friday they were dropped 8-5 by the Fairview Flyers, and Saturday they were outplayed by the North Peace Navigators 6-2.

Teams will be off the ice until Friday night when six of the seven teams battle it out.

Fairview will visit Fort St.John, the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings battle the North Peace Navigators, and the Beaverlodge Blades host the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks.

All three games are scheduled for 8:00 p.m. puck drops.
