Teams in the North Peace Hockey League continue to jockey for playoff positioning as we enter the final month of the regular season, and this weekend was no different.

It all began Friday night with just one game on the docket as the Grande Prairie Athletics were steamrolled by the Falher Pirates 10-5.

The good news for the Athletics was they were back at home on Saturday as part of a three-game evening and they would bounce back with a 3-2 victory over Fort St.John.

Falher, on the other hand, could not build off of their massive win Friday evening as they were doubled up 8-4 by the Grimshaw Huskies.

Dawson Creek would also edge High Prairie 8-6.

Following this weekend’s action, the Falher Pirates have a four-point edge atop the East Division ahead of the Huskies.

While in the West division, Fort St.John and Grande Prairie are separated by just one point for first place with the Athletics holding a game in hand.

Teams will return to the ice on Thursday when Dawson Creek visits Fort St.John, and Grimshaw hosts Grande Prairie.

The Regular Season concludes on January 28th, and the post-season begins on January 30th.
