Youth to stand trial for 2016 stabbing death

A young person will stand trial for a 2016 stabbing death of a Grande Prairie man.
RCMP were called to an apartment on the south side on November 30 around 4:30 p.m. to reports of an injured man. He was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Major Crimes Unit from Edmonton and the General Investigation Section from the Grande Prairie detachment investigated along with the Grande Prairie Forensic Identification Section. At the time, police said it was not a random act.
The young person will appear in court for a charge of manslaughter on August 23rd and 24th, 2018.
They cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The deceased was also not named to protect the identity of the accused.
