Controversial U of T professor’s event cancelled in Edmonton, still scheduled for Grande Prairie

Jan 17, 2018 | 5:38 AM

A book promotion event by the outspoken University of Toronto psychology professor Jordan Peterson, who has ties to our area, has been cancelled in Edmonton.

Peterson has sparked debate for refusing to use gender-neutral pronouns.

He says the Citadel Theatre cancelled the February 11th event without any explanation and calls the decision “regrettable, made in haste, and unprofessional.”

The theatre says the contract to secure the venue was never finalized.

Peterson’s website says his book distills the world’s wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life.

He is scheduled to be in Grande Prairie for an event February 10th at the Douglas J. Cardinal Theatre at GPRC.

Peterson grew up in Faiview and attended GPRC.
