UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP are warning of icy roads on Highway 40 south.

Rural members of the detachment are responding to a multi-vehicle collision. There are also many vehicles in the ditch.

Police are not recommending travel unless necessary. They also remind drivers to be mindful of emergency personnel in the area.

Grovedale Fire Department are reminding people to drive to the conditions on Highway 40 south of Grande Prairie.

In a Facebook post around 8:31 p.m., they reported a collision on that highway to the Cutbank.

On 511 Alberta, there were reports of congested traffic in the same location. They were also warning drivers to be prepared to stop.

Environment Canada put out a freezing rain warning earlier in the evening with a warning of icy roadways or sidewalks.

We will have more as it becomes available.
