Give up booze in support of the Canadian Cancer Society this February
The Canadian Cancer Society is challenging Canadians to go alcohol-free in February and help raise funds for cancer research and programming.
Elizabeth Holmes with the Canadian Cancer Society says this is the third year for their fundraiser Dry Feb, and organizers are hoping more people get on board this year.
“We know that alcohol increases your risk of cancer, and so this is one way that we are raising awareness about that while raising funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.”
She says drinking any kind of alcohol, whether it’s beer, wine or spirits, increases your risk of several cancers like head and neck, breast, colorectal, and liver and only a third of Canadians are aware of this link.
