County making progress on snow removal

Mar 4, 2018 | 9:52 AM

Significant progress has been made on clearing County roads after this week’s snowfall.

County officials say over 75 percent of their road network had been opened for travel, with hopes that number could be increased to 95 percent by the end of Sunday, if the weather co-operates.

They did caution though that some roads were still only one lane, and that banks on the side of the roads were very high because of the amount of snow.

Main paved roads are the top priority of County road clearing crews, followed by arterial and then local gravel roads.

Once those are cleared, crews will then begin work on their Seniors Snow Plow Program, which sees them clear driveways for seniors and the physically disabled registered under the program.

All available County snow removal equipment is being used, with contractors assisting where needed.
