Special council meeting regarding old fire hall today

City council is holding a special meeting today, in regards to the future of the old Fire Hall.

A Request For Proposal went out on the building and the highest score went to Equity Rentals who proposed a restaurant in the bay area of the hall and add a third floor to create office space to suit their needs.

The Grain Bin also sent in a proposal.

Council now has two options according to Councillor Dylan Bressey, go with Equity Rentals or cancel the RFP and retain the building. If cancelled, a long period of time must pass before another RFP can be re-issued.

In January council members decided they needed more information before making a decision.

At the time the mayor questioned whether a RFP was the correct approach to use.
