A B.C. man has been charged with assaulting a police officer following an incident at Motel on the North side of the city Tuesday.

It happened 3:00 a.m. when officers responded to a disturbance complaint to find what is described as an agitated male.

RCMP say he was asked to leave but was not cooperative and subsequently arrested.

As the suspect was being arrested, Mounties say the man became “combative” and tried to disarm an officer.

43-year-old Brent Blanchard from Surrey is charged with:

·        Assault on a Police Officer

·        Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer

·        Mischief

He will be in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 26.
