Loaded handgun found after routine traffic stop in Grande Prairie

The Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit arrested a man from Edmonton and one from Beaumont earlier this week after investigating a suspicious vehicle.

Tuesday late afternoon patrolling officers conducted a traffic stop and during the vehicle search, found a loaded handgun.

21-year-old Harsh Jindal from Edmonton and 18-year-old Paul Stephenson from Beaumont are charged with:

         – Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
         – Unauthorized possession of a firearm
         – Unsafe storage of a firearm
         – Possession of firearm in motor vehicle
         – Possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence
         – Possession of firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
         – Fail to comply with recognizance x 5

Stephenson also faces an obstructing a peace officer charge.

The two will be in Grande Prairie court March 21st.
